The idea was to make this look like a big budget trailer so we kept the idea of a storyline to a minimal except for the notion of a kid getting lost in the maze.

Shot entirely on my Canon 5D Mark II using a 24-105mm L 4.0 lens and a Nikon 55mm f2.8 macro.

Definitely check out the maze if you are in the area. The people I worked with were really amazing and this is one of the best experiences I have had to date.

I mainly wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to get good shots without a whole bunch of gear. Nearly all of this is handheld. There are blown out areas in the some of the beach shots that just couldn't be helped without supplemental lighting.<br><br>I shot the first part of this using the generic black and white preset. In the future, I will definitely shoot color and convert later. I've been aggressively developing my photography skills.<br /><br />New firmware was just released for the Canon 5D Mark II which enables it to have 24p recording. I'm thrilled about this because I think it's very viable at this point to use a DSLR for video. The quality is easily as good as my XHA1 and the fact that it records to solid state is a big plus.<br /><br />Don't expect anything too dramatic here, it's just a bunch of random shots slapped together to give all who are curious a general taste. I could never whip out my XHA1/Letus Ultimate and point it out the window as the plane is taking off or just getting to its altitude. I held the camera to the window spreading both my hands on the glass and thumbs supporting the Mark II.<br><br>The second set of shots is from the dancing water at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. This was a pretty low light situation but, again, the camera did a great job at keeping noise at bay. You can see the exposure shift when the water stops at the end of the sequence. The Canon 5D Mark II doesn't allow much manual control so it chose to open the lens (a 85mm f1.8) to the max, hence the very shallow depth of field. This short explores the idea of knowing our own future.<br><br>Stars my daughter Tara, her best friend and her brother Zac. Tara also did the narration.<br><br>The usual Canon XHA1 with Letus Ultimate rig. Most of this was shot with a Nikon 55mm f2.8 macro lens with some others shot with a Nikon 50mm f1.8<br><br>Lighting was done with regular worklight fluorescents (3 doubles strung together, 55k) and one of those cheap dome light holders and a screw in fluorescent bulb. I wouldn't recommend this for anything professional because I experienced some phasing but it was okay for something at this level.<br><br>Dolly shots were done with a typical "T" dolly and PVC pipe for track. I used my XHA1 with a mattebox and a 4x4 diffusion filter from Schneider called a Classic Soft. The filter was on for all of these shots. I also had the sharpness of the camera turned down to -3. The combination gives a really pretty picture in my opinion and totally rids the final result of that ugly HD video sharpness (not to be confused with resolution). Can't afford Kino Flo's right now so I'm playing around with worklights and rigging them together similar to Kino banks. This is just a simple test using two worklights for a total of 4 fluorescent tubes @ 40w each.
