Why do Formula 1 racing drivers need to be fit? Sky News sports journalist Ian Dovaston learns the hard way as Lewis Hamilton's personal trainer puts him through the paces.

Ian did a great job of playing up to the camera and I loved working with the very beautifully shot Mclaren Formula 1 footage. Obviously none of the slo-mo picture had any audio. I am therefore particularly pleased at how well the fake "slo-mo audio" works that I cobbled together from various sources on the last shot. The graphics sequence in the middle was made by the Sky News graphics department.

Armin,

First off, thank you for providing such detailed information about the background of this video and things to look out for. I enjoyed that part almost as much as the video itself.

I'm a huge fan of F1 and MotoGP (more MotoGP :)) and this video brought some of that thrill for me. It's a pity you didn't get a chance to be on the tracks with the drivers, the smell of burning rubber and the high pitched whine of these super charged high performance engines.

I thought the edit was pretty good. Very professional in fact. I felt like I was in fact watching TV!. The sound attached to the slow mo was very convincing indeed.

Gimme more!

Shiv,

Ah, it's the plight of an editor not to get to smell that burning rubber... Glad you felt it was worthy of TV though since in fact it was for TV! ;-) I get to work on very different and quite varied stuff, so can't promise more motor sport, but it is certainly possible.

Thank you for your input!

Shiv, It's because Armin is just about the best editor there is at Sky News and he is a professional and that went on TV!!!

I should have known you two know each other! Now I'm glad I said, "Very Professional in fact". See, I can tell the great from the good :)
