This is the opening sequence to the Sky News 2006 Year In Review programme. It is an hour long programme in which Political Editor Adam Boulton looks back at the key events of 2006, ranging from weather, sport, showbiz, science, crime, politics and any specific events that may have left their mark for British viewers that year. I remember spending far too much time messing around with it, but it was just such fun.

I can see how something like this can take a lot of time.

So what's the process you (as an editor) go through when you're doing something like this? May be you should write a blog :).

An idea I will consider. :-) But to give a quick answer: the process of digitising and watching the footage, discussing the structure of the programme with the producer and just getting to know the shots leads to a slow percolation of ideas. But it is only once I have found my music that the sequence can really start to take shape. The music in fact inspires a lot of the ideas.

Yes, from the little editing I've done I can totaly related to that. In fact I've got a few edits I need to do, but not having the right music has put it on hold.

Look forward to a blog post on this :)
