Once again I caught up with the Whitewood band, this time at the Bridgewater Fair. A curious mix of cattle shows, tractor pulls and southern rock.
While backstage, I asked lead singer Danny Pepe if they practice frequently. Nope. Not at all. But you would never guess by the way these guys play together. I guess that's what 30 years of playing together as a band does. Everyone just knows their part and has it down to perfection.
The Bridgewater Fair organization provided a proper band stand and sound system, and they did it right. I was frankly surprised to find that much technical competence in this small country town. Looks like they had some Lab horns for the bass, EAW speakers for the mains.. pretty good stuff.
Here's Whitewood, performing ZZ Top's "Cheap Sunglasses", at the Bridgewater Fair, August 16th, and the sound is excellent.
