I survived another public speaking engagement unscathed, this time presenting on HDTV and the coming transition to digital.
The audience was receptive and we had a large auditorium that was part of a large hospital, so the facilities were top-notch.
As I went through my presentation, many of the attendees asked specific questions and I was able to answer nearly all of them off the top of my head. I started at the dot of eight o'clock and finished up about 9:20pm.
I covered everything from television standards to display technology, using colorful charts and drawings depicting everything from viewing distance vs. screen size to the make-up of various flat panel displays.
At my closing, the audience gave a surprisingly-warm applause.
Afterwards, several people approached me with questions, and one of them stated that it was the best presentation he'd seen in the history of DACS.
Overall, it was a satisfying evening and a chance to self-promote, albeit I kept that to a minimum.
Someone asked me if I'm available for hire, to give talks. I explained that although I don't do this for a living, I certainly would be willing to present on a topic I'm knowledgeable on. Hmmm... we'll see what happens in the future.
It was a good evening, and a few of my friends were in attendance, which was nice as well.
