A short test and demo to compare and contrast the differences between the two. Both of us havent had that much experience with both rigs and are considered beginners. I'm sure very experienced users will get more out of both.

Interesting comparision. Although the FigRig is more versatile for quick and sudden movements, the Merlin is much more pleasing to my eye.

Yes. Actually, there is a bit more but i've not edited those yet. The Fig Rig allows for very versatile movements that would otherwise be virtually unusable on the naked camera held with one/two hands but lacks the finese in movement of the graceful steadicams.

You know what would be good? A SDI/Component POV monitor that sits as semi/superimposed images on goggles for the Fig Rig. I found it difficult to see the actual framing whilst running and moving the camera about.

Yes.. Any of the 'steady' cam rigs will be smoother but this video is to show the contrasts. The steadicam whilst smooth is restricted in movement and the Fig Rig allows rapid and non-conforming movements not achievable with the Merlin.
