Jim Long
Lightcatcher Productions

Bio

For years, Jim and Carol Long possessed an avid interest in Biblical Archaeology, Ancient History and film making---so much so, that they were married on an archaeological dig in Israel in 1995. After becoming life partners, they became business partners and formed Lightcatcher Productions, a video production and book publishing venture.

Before entering the documentary realm, Jim enjoyed a career in broadcast radio that spanned over twenty-five years. His resume includes stints as air talent at Oldies 94.5 in Houston, Texas, also Program Director at KGBS NewsTalk in Dallas and later, producer for the popular Mark Davis Show on WBAP Radio, in Dallas-Ft.Worth. Jim's first broadcast credit came when he served as co-producer for Fox-Lorber's QUEST: THE SEARCH FOR THE ARK OF THE COVENANT which aired on BBC and Dutch Television. Under their Lightcatcher Productions banner, Jim and Carol wrote and produced ON THE WINGS OF EZEKIEL, the true story of one of the first Texas airships. The Long’s began developing a proposed television series based on the Jewish Oral Tradition, entitled LEGENDS - A SECRET HISTORY OF THE WORLD. That project offered them the opportunity to shoot in Israel, Egypt, Jordan and England. Their location footage has since been featured in TLC's series GIANTS, the History Channel mini-series GOLD!, Discovery Channel’s SECRETS OF THE HOLY LAND and National Geographic's DIGGING FOR THE TRUTH. Lightcatcher Productions also licensed their visuals for use in the Hallmark television movie MARCO POLO and, most recently, the popular CBS dramatic series THE UNIT.

Two Lightcatcher documentaries, RIDDLE OF THE EXODUS (based on Mr. Long's book of the same name) and  TREASURES OF THE COPPER SCROLL were honored as an official entry in the 2007 Monaco Charity Film Festival and the 2008 Beverly Hills Hi Def Film Festival. Lightcatcher post-production services were enlisted for Kudu Productions' SONS OF WAR, which premiered at the 15th Annual Sedona Film Festival and the 2009 G.I. Film Festival in Washington, DC.

Mr. Long is frequently invited to speak on the subject of Biblical Archaeology and has lectured to audiences in New York, Los Angeles, London and Jerusalem. Recently, he was also the key-note speaker at an Aish Ha Torah’s “The Science of Torah” seminar in Toronto
