Marco,
That was very well done! Or as Marco says Fantastico! Never really taken such a close look at a snail. This video has thrown a whole new light on snails :).
I see you're a Canon XHA1 buddy. Are you using an adapter? If so what adapter and what lens? Appreciate it if you could set those up in your equipment for this video.

Thank you very much for comments. Shiv I use only a macro lens. no adapter or lex system. Edit and little color correction on Avid.

Oh, I didn't know one could attach a macro lens in front of the stock lens on the Coanon XHA1 :).

Amazing video! The lighting is superb as well, Marco. I'm excited to see this, because I just got my diopter set in the mail today for my own XH-A1, and I am really keen to get out and find something worth getting close up to! Butterflies are my usual muse, and they are pretty difficult to capture well, since they move so fast. Maybe I'll try snails for a while...
What diopter were you using, 1 or 2, 3?
Cheers,
Carter Harkins

Marco, Carter what is the cost of the Macro lens kit?
Carter, yes, I'd try snails first :). But spiders, ants and such might be effective subjects too.

Just to be clear, diopters and macro lenses are different things. You can learn more about diopters or "close up lenses" here:
http://www.alanwood.net/photography/close-up-lenses.html
I just bought my diopter set (Hoya 1, 2, 4 purchased from digitalfotoclub.com for $40 with shipping), which can all be combined or stacked in various ways to achieve up to a 7, but generally 1 and 2 are the most field-friendly, usually.
As a side note, using diopters does introduce noticeable degradation in image quality, with bigger numbers introducing more distortion. Blurriness around the edges of the frame, as well as a lack of sharpness are pretty common. I've found it best to keep my subject in the center of the frame (the sharpness sweet spot), which means the rule of thirds won't help you compose the shot much. Also, larger apertures are better, too.
Most of my experience with diopters comes from still-image work. Video, even HD, is a much smaller pixel image than 35mm digital still photos, though, so I've been hoping that the image won't suffer as noticeably. And Marco's beautiful footage has boosted that hope even more!
One last added benefit of a diopter in DV work is that it really decreases the depth of field, so you can really separate your subject nicely from its background, as shown with Marco's snail!

Hi Carter, Thank you very much for comment.
My lens kit include filter close up 1 2 4 and macro ( 10). For this short I used a macro lens ( 10) and for the first test snails are ideal subject. The major problem is calibrate manual focus but is very funny.
The light is natural I didn't used spotlights, only a little color correction on Xpress Pro HD.
Carter is all correct, I bought the kit on eBay at 40 Euro.
