Shot with two Panasonic HMC-152 cameras, entirely hand-held (except for the one Glidecam shot establishing the inside of the church.) The overall look I wanted for the start & ending parts of this highlight was that of Super 16mm film using Ektachrome 64T reversal film for daytime scenes & 500 ASA negative stock for the indoor scenes. As a contrast the Ceremony & Photo Shoot footage was purposely processed for the sharp HD video look.
Processing video to look like real film takes more than just adding digital grain & Artbeats film damage overlays in post. That's the sort of stuff I usually see on TV shows where they try to pass off video footage as old film and it just looks piss poor.
What I'm trying to do is create a realistic film emulation that follows 8mm & 16mm film colour, grain and cadence.
Why bother you say? It's hard enough getting couples to choose Super 8 film in Australia because of the cost; Super 16mm film is pretty much out of the question unless your clients are ultra rich celebrities or multi-media magnates ;)
Anyhow, the film emulation is a work in progress - Enjoy!
