I love shooting water! This is a collection of images from the past several years of the small streams and waterfalls in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York. Most of this was shot with my EX1 and Letus 35mm adapter. Some of it is on the indiSlider, some on a Cobra Crane backpacker (lightweight crane I lug into the woods!) and near the end is stuff from my canoe shot with an FX1. Lightly graded in Magic Bullet Looks, edited in FCP.

Hope you enjoy it. Music is some that I have the rights to.

love nature and i like your shots. very nice im sure you did some heavy carrying on that trip. it was well worth it.

Thanks Mathias! It is alot of carrying, I never take both the cobra crane and the indiSlider out at the same time however, thats just too much for my aging bones to handle!

Wow..very nice...how did you achieve the final clips over the water...Boat?

Paul Frederick    June 16, 2009 08:29 AM
Travis,

I have a canoe that I shoot from. I go alone and use an electric motor, theres no way to be smooth while paddling. I put the camera on a small still cam tripod between my legs and shoot at a 45 degree angle. Lastly, if you know canoes, one end is for the rider in front (seat is back more towards the middle) and the "driver" is supposed to be on the seat that is up against the back. I always sit in the friont seat but with my body facing the middle. This puts me more in the middle of the boat and makes it more stable.

This was by far one of the best waterfall videos I have seen. Your work is so comforting and uplifting. My eyes just wanted more, you have a wonderful gift of finding the perfect angles and I loved when the leaves made your eyes follow them to the owl-perfect!

Jenilyn,

Glad you liked the video! There's nothing as soothing as a good waterfall, even the small ones. Thanks for watching and posting a comment.

Absolutely awesome shots and slide/crane work. Also very impressed with the canoe shots. Great equipment, I lust for a camera that will be good enough to justify buying the Letus. Fantastic place you have there in that forest!Magic.

Beautiful Nature, beautiful filming! I would have left the soundtrack out for a short break in nature, while sitting at the desk...
My father used to film water, I film water and clouds, if I had a lifetime just to watch water... Thanks for the intermezzo!

Thanks for making me see things that I have seen many times before and presenting them so that I see them in a new way. It's like seeing them for the first time all over again.
