In 1911 they had a good idea at the Salford Lads Club, they decided to honour the successful musical play 'The Quaker Girl', but having a special Fair in her honour. The Club rang to the sound of singing, cooking and hammering nails. In 2006 Leslie Holmes from the Club organised a reconstruction of this historic event. Mike Scantlebury was on hand, selling plants and advertising Salford LIDS projects. He made it onto the final cut.

What's a wurzel? Mike was born in Bristol, an ancient town in the deepest South West of England, with windy streets and a lot of rain. People from Bristol set out in a sailing ship in 1497 and found America. Mike's still looking for it, but he hopes to find it soon.
