The Farmer and the Alien pitch
Joe the Alien, a character in my recently completed screenplay, helps me pitch it:
TITLE: The Farmer and the Alien
GENRE: Comedy, science fiction
PITCH: Clint Eastwood in his prime meets the U.S. Government and outlaw aliens, beats all their butts, AND wins the girl while still harvesting an UNUSUAL crop early.
LOGLINE: Never force a mountain farmer to grow a crop he does not want, to, a hilarious romp of Carolina-mountain commonsense triumphing over corrupt government agents trying to conquer the world and an invasion by vicious aliens while saving Earth in spite of itself against impossible odds, and of Bob and Jolee and their REALLY unusual kids.
SYNOPIS: Bob Correll, a good ole boy farmer in the mountains of Western North Carolina near Asheville, is forced by Joe, an alien con artist, to raise a highly dangerous crop, leaving a powerful alien military robot to make sure he toes the line and hoes the row. Bob’s banker informs him of immediate foreclosure on the farm. Men in Black types from the government threaten him. His old girlfriend now an FBI agent shows up — his neighbor, her mom, has snitched on him. An old enemy, then a senator now the president, has cut off his military retirement and he’s totally broke.
On the larger scene, the crooked Director of the CIA plans to take over the world, starting with eliminating Bob. Four rogue alien civilizations are aghast at what Bob is raising and plan an invasion. And the premiere law enforcement agency in the universe, the Galactic Patrol is investigating. Bob must overcome all these obstacles to get the crop harvested and save Earth itself with a suspenseful, nail-biting, feel-good ending.
