Nice intro

The Pacers must be pleased with this, why did you choose the 5D2 just out of interest. I assume the Pacers are all filmed green screen, that being the case it's very clean indeed. How did you cope with the low angle shots as the 5D fixed screen does not lend itself to this type of shot.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

Conrad,

This is a really well made video. The effects are tremendous! The "Giant" feel really comes through.

Did you have help with some sets that made them look larger than life or was it all done in post?
Conrad Piccirillo    November 23, 2009 09:40 AM

Fun, but challenging

Phillip,

I chose the MK2, first for the look. I fell in love with the look during a demo.

Next, In order to create the 'giant' feel, I wanted to use a wide angle lens with a focal length typically wider than you would find in video (and also something I had 'in hand') The wide angle took care of the low angle shooting.
I simply place the camera on the lowest tripod setting. When we got to the green screen shoot, we didn't use a tripod. We shot from a sandbag and hand-held on a ladder to get the right height

Another reason: In order to capture the 'right' time of day, it took about 20 sunrises and sunsets. Since I was able to shoot them myself, I saved about $35,000 in HD shoot days. All of the backgrounds are real video with color correction. The late or early blue sky allowed us to play with the skies.

Thank you both for your interest. There's been little or no interest on Vimeo or any of the other video sites. - C.

Really great work. How did you get the reflections on the office windows at around 0:17? Is it a model?
Conrad Piccirillo    November 27, 2009 06:09 PM

Reflections

Adrian, These are actual reflections of the capitol building on building across the street. No models were used in filming or post production. I have a really cool photo I took at the same time with the 5DMK2.

We're going to do another version of it soon.

Thanks for the good words

C.
