Sorry I haven't been around for quite sometime. I've been aggressively developing my photography skills.

New firmware was just released for the Canon 5D Mark II which enables it to have 24p recording. I'm thrilled about this because I think it's very viable at this point to use a DSLR for video. The quality is easily as good as my XHA1 and the fact that it records to solid state is a big plus.

Don't expect anything too dramatic here, it's just a bunch of random shots slapped together to give all who are curious a general taste. The clip is less than a minute long.

Somehow everything you do I find enjoyable. Yes, it's not anything great but you have a knack of putting a bunch of random images on a timeline, and editing it with certain music and somehow telling a story.

I'm pretty sure you're telling a story, I just don't get what it is. Do tell.

You go away for a while, then come back and blow me away with moments of nothing in particular. Glad you have a new video... now I want to go film some more.

I've enjoyed many of your films Steven - you have the power to move people with your creative visuals.
This particular film (though short) is visually very beautiful.

I see you're using the 5D ... the full frame capture of this DSLR camera is outstanding, you'd have to spend serious money on a vid cam to match it.

I've just bought the 7D, I will buy the 5D too once funds allow - the 7D is a little more flexible in HD filming mode, though the 5D is a little better visually I think due to the full frame capture.

Sadly I wasted money on the Sony Z5E - its good, but not as good as the 7D, yet costs twice as much :-(
I'll keep it for less serious work, and the fact it uses tape is a bonus :-)

Anyway, off track there a little ... just wanted to say I'm a fan of your work Steven :-)

Kindest regards
Chris.

Time Lapse

Steven, How are you shooting the time lapse sequences? Doesn't the 5D have a 5 minute or so limit on shooting? Thanks, Mark

To mark above ... You're taking photos for timelapse Mark, not video - this goes for the 7D too. As a result the qaulity is outstanding. Also (since you mention it) the filming time limit is about 20 mins per take for video with only the battery as a limitation for timelapse.
