Don,
That's fantastic!
Oh and there is nothing to beat your being your hobby too. Many of us on XR love to do this stuff but we have to work at other things to pay the bills :)

Heya Shiv,
How you doing? Thanks for the comment. Made me pull my head in and stop worrying about looking at the world in 16x9 :)

I'm doing well thank you Don.
What camera do you use for this stuff? Would you mind setting up the equipment (camera, lens etc.) for your videos?
I'm assuming this is done using a DSLR? What kind of shooting do you do? and where is that footage :)?

Hey Shiv,
We shoot/edit/compose everything ranging from Tv docos, corporate docos and live events.
Ill give you an idea of one of the more interesting jobs we have coming up (still finalising) We have a client who bought a motorbike in germany and rode through Europe, Middle East, Pakistan, India etc looking for (and finding) an amazing recipe for Chai. He came back to Australia, made and bottled it in his back yard. Started selling it and began making a killing. Pretty soon investors came in and gave him a truckload of cash.
So if you can imagine a young, cool version of Richard Branson but crazy as all hell. Anyway, he wants to hire myself and my wife (who is a shooter and business partner) to follow him for four weeks across India etc as he re-creates the process of discovery for this Chai recipe. At this stage its a product promo but it has all the hallmarks of so much more.

Wow, that's an amazing story! I'm sure it will be a lot of fun as well. So when do you start and how long is the travel?

A tentative date has been set and price negotiations are underway but ...I think we have both decided to do the job. Will make a refreshing change from some of the stuff you do to make ends meet. Its looking like a 3-4 week stint. My wife and I have travelled around India for seven months prior so kind of know what to expect and this is really going to effect the camera and gear choices. Its definitely going to be run and gun and a low profile would be a huge asset also the need to travel light will be an imperative.

Yup, you've been to India :). Where about in India have you been?
Behind the scenes will be fun too I think. If you're getting to travel you might as well shoot stuff where possible (besides the Chai parts) and make a short documentary of it :).

We landed in Mumbai late 2000 and went anti clockwise right around till we came back to Mumbai. While we were there the 2001 Gujarat earthquake hit. Devastating. One missed train saved our lives. My wife left her heart in Varanasi. This is her most favorite place. Where as mine was a small pilgrim town called Orcha which is surrounded by desolate forts and empty palaces.
You must have been in a meeting we had last night where we talked about shooting a production diary alongside the main production about the trip/equipment/behind scenes. You never know, we may have a XR exclusive for you if we can pull it off.

Don,
That was quite a long trip I must say and you guys have probably seen more in India than I have. :). I've been out of India since 1997 and a lot of changed since then I'm sure.
Good to know you're both thinking along the some lines. Let me know how things go and I hope you're able ot pull it off.
