So just outside my hotel, I can see the Atlantic City Skyline. I decide to make a time-lapse before heading out on New Years Day. I cross the Freeway and brush past some reeds to find a moist marsh. I find a downed telephone pole and hop up. I set up my tripod and decide to just go automatic to see how the 7D adjusts on it's own (will never do that again). It's much too foggy to make out the skyline, but I'm dedicated. I look down to see a few inches of water at the base of my tripod. I think it's odd... like maybe my tripod is sinking. A few minutes later it's half a foot deep.

By the end of the shoot the tide brought in just over a foot of water to were I was standing. I take down my tripod and just leap into the icy cold Atlantic and slosh my way to the hotel. Never wear Chuck Taylor's in a marsh. Lucky for me I always bring spare shoes!
