I filmed a video for OPSU Football last year... why not do another to get some practice with my new Camera?

Let the Rolling Shutter.... Roll?

While my first 7D video (Guymon at Midnight) was mostly setting up the camera on a tripod and hitting record, this video required focus shifts, excessive tripod movement as well as use of my GlideCam Pro HD. I also, for the first time, used the 720/60fps video setting to do some cool speed shifts in post.

For the record: I never want to use a GlideCam again... ever. I was never a fan of it anyway. I am just no good at it.

Filming football is WAY easier on an XHA1... but the bokeh and image control really makes the effort worth it. Every shot, even shots of nothing really that interesting, came out gorgeous. The 7D made it pretty hard to cut out a lot of the video.

The last shot of this video is one of my favorites. I saw it coming.... but said, "Screw it. I can take a hit."

Gorgeous Colours < that's how you spell it in the UK ;-)

Visual technology has come a long way don't you think - the quality here is way better than a 35k HD video cam from just a few years back, taking nothing away from the videographer of course, this is excellent action capture Charles.

Though the 5D has full frame, I prefer the 7D for its feature count - more so for the videographer, and price is crazy cheap for this quality. Hopefully I'll have mine soon, I already have a good selection of lenses, just need a few adaptors off eBay :-)

Charles, Gee, the color really pops. You should be pleased with the result. Several points i've noted so far with 7D ... Likes full exposure to zap the color. I'm finding the Portrait Style provides a soft pleasant result.

My Fav 7D Feature

The nub controller on the back of the 7D lets you move around the Auto Focus Zone when your switched to Live View. I'm finding years of PlayStation has paid off as I thumb the nub and hit the AF button whilst running around and recording.

The camera jutts and does all the crazy autofocus stuff... so it's really only good to use before a shot. That little movable white box makes the 7D the best semi-automatic (as I call it) DSLR HDV Cam thingy you can own!

At the game I was showing the AF controller to a few other photographers. We were having a nerd huddle until we realized we were missing the game!

I think I'm ready to use this with some cliental!

awesome semi-automatic!

Nice work. I like the edit. Nice, pretty, popping colors... I can't wait to get my 7D.

Canon 7D

Man, great Job, I been thinking to buy this camera but I am not sure if it's worth it for what I do, the quality is amazing but it's seen to be challenging i guess, by the way glidecam it's not easy and I feel your pain but i got no choice i have to use it hehehe

Well done Charles! First time I've seen any kind of sport shot on a camera like this.

It's funny, I've seen the price of the 7D dropping dramatically at my favourite camera store website. A few weeks ago it was $2295(AUD), and now it's down to $1810(AUD) on the same website.

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Dallas, I have been a film junkie from a young age. While I was heavy into to 2D computer animation in high school (as well as 3D animation in college), it was not until I received a roll in an independent film that I realized my love for film-making.
