Annually I donate my time to create a video for the Oaks of Mamre in Guymon, Oklahoma. This year I took footage from last years video (I no longer had the XHA1 raw footage) and mixed it with some fresh 7D footage.

The 7D footage is composed of the shots in the middle of the video (instrumental section). All of the 7d shots were done handheld and most of shots were stabilized in post.

Hey Charles what kind of pictures profiles you use on the 7d ? this images are crazy man what a quality.

Another great job for someone who needs to be exposed. This should really help them!

@Rafael

What do you mean by Picture Profiles? The 7D shoots were the shots in the middle, the instrumental shots. Everything else was XHA1 in SD blown up. Wish I still had the original files!

William, I'll post some of the feedback I get. They do a Souper Bowl party every year and in classic form, I finised the video the night before!

Thanks,
Frisby

Wow! Outstanding work - and a great cause. The 7D shots give us a great candid look and do a beautiful job of telling your story through the faces - especially the kids. Nicely done.

I now have the 7D on my 'must-have' wish list.

Thanks,
-- Jim

Great work in purpose, and content.

This is a good outreach you are doing Charles. Donating time for a good cause is time well spent.

If you don't mind sharing, what did you use to stabilize the footage? Its unbelievable that they were hand held.

Funny you should ask. I typically use After Effects or Motion for stabilizing... but I decided to try out the Smoothcam filter in Final Cut Pro.

I discovered it worked fine, but not in all instances. On the next project I had to go into Motion because the Smoothcam filter gives you no options on where to place you focal points for Smoothing. Smoothcam leaves everything up to FCP to decide. It works great in a rush, but not for every situation.

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Dallas, I have been a film junkie from a young age. While I was heavy into to 2D computer animation in high school (as well as 3D animation in college), it was not until I received a roll in an independent film that I realized my love for film-making.
