Pro-Am Crane

Hi Charles. Can you attach a Canon 5D Mark II onto the crane? If not, what other cranes would you recommend for dlsrs?

I attached the 7D to the crane. Basically it has little holes that fit a variety of bolts that will screw into a camera mount. I usually steal the bolt from my Manfrotto plate and use it. Works on all of my Canon cameras, as they are all the same thread size. I prefer using the HDSLR on the crane because I have to use less counter weights. It's better, for moving shots, to use a XHA1 or similar camera with auto focus. Check out my film "The Hard Road". Lots of shots with the ProAm crane and 7D. http://exposureroom.com/thehardroad

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Dallas, I have been a film junkie from a young age. While I was heavy into to 2D computer animation in high school (as well as 3D animation in college), it was not until I received a roll in an independent film that I realized my love for film-making.
