This is my first wedding montage. I filmed earlier in the year. If you watch nothing else... watch from the 4 minute mark and on for the best reception party footage EVER!

The XHA1 has some horrid low light... but I did the best I could running around with a monopod. The DJ's did not have a wireless mic for the toast... so I surrendered mine so everyone could hear, which later forced me to subtitle the open mic audio.

I learned a lot from my first wedding and plan to film my next one soon. The families LOVED the video, so though shaky at times and grainy for most of it.... mission accomplished.

Charles,

Watched the whole thing. Most deffinately a very good first attempt. I can just imagine how hard weddings are to do.

I'm sure your next one will be way better. Besides, you now have the 7D, so low light shouldn't be an issue.

So when is the steadicam coming?

Now, I have a GlideCam HD-4000... So everything should be smoother. I've learned a lot since then and... I've watched plenty Joe Simon videos since then as well (which makes a huge difference ;).

I'm also a lot better prepared this time around. This video got me the wedding gig I'm filming later this month, so it's done it's job. I just charge a whole lot less for now.

Charles,
Can't wait to see the next one!

Yea, Joe Simon the guys does magic with a camera.

What camera do you plan to use on the GlideCam? And are you practicing?

Charles Frisby    November 08, 2009 02:33 PM
I've used the Glidecam with the XHA1 several times with good results, but since the 7D is WAY lighter, I am considering using it for the most part. I plan on setting up the XHA1 on a Tripod in the back just catching the wide shot (and main audio) with my wife running around with a HV40 on a mono. Thats my plan right now.

I need to practice some more with the Glidecam, but since I'm always filming I have plenty of chances. I really plan on using as much stuff as possible and see what works best for me. I'm just trying to fund movie projects after all :)

If you're planning to use the 7D on the GlideCam, I'd play with that setup to see what works and what doesn't. Also, due to the rolling shutter issue. You'd know how fast to move, pan etc.

Kids playing at the park, or our on the street skating/skateboarding make good subjects for GlideCam practice sessions.

I'm actually eager to see what you do :)

last weekend i shot a weeding with 3 cameras one 5D and two panasonic 150...
i got an horrible lens to shoot video, 3.5-135, and yes it was not to bad on low light situations, but i need a better lens..

i used to have 2 totta towers for lights...
