Just a quick test. I used the suction grip and attached it to our HHR's sun roof. Fun drive. Lots of people staring.

hey you are brave man to put the 7D on the sun roof, are you sure it won't fall? , what lens did you use?

Hey Charles, nice vid with happy end! Did you secure the camera with a strap or something? I have the same mount but are hesitating to put it on a roof. Saw that it is possible to mount and connect three of them, but than it's a bit expensive. on the other hand.... loosing your camera :-(

The lens I used was my brand spanking used Canon 686284 EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM . It is amazingly wide... though it wont work with the 5D, only with cropped sensors.

As for the fear of it falling, the plunger, as it is, is very strong. I attached it to an old 13 inch TV earlier in the day and swung it around. For safety I held onto my Canon 7D strap that hung down. I also kept it out of the shot.
