First test of the Panasonic GH1. Shot at the Thames Barrier Park. Still a lot to figure out with this camera, but this represents my first foray with it.

Edited in Edius 5, graded with MBL via the AE bridge plugin (BETA)

Mostly stock lens, some Canon FD 50mm 1.4
.3 ND (Cokin P)

AVCHD 1080 with some 720 for the slo-mo.

On my list for next shoot. More ND and a Hoodman for the screen. No way I could shoot without either.

Hi Joe,

That's really good picture quality. When you say stock lens is that the kit lens (28-280mm)? How do you fit a Canon FD lens on this baby? And can one fit Canon EF lenses on this camera too?

In the first scene the LED display at the station is flickering. Is that because of the camera or was that just a faulty display?

Some editing suggestions if I may.
The cut at 0:58 is a bit off.
The train doors closing at the end I thought was a fitting closing shot until I saw the next shot. It didn't quite make sense to me :). I think the the last shot should be the one where the doors close.

Beautiful imagery. Also very good framing techniques. The slow motion was perfect for the music. Only one very small suggestion, it might have been nice to the exact same shots moving side to side (or front to back) using one of those glidecam type equipment. But it is clips like this, that make this website #1 on my list. Good job.

@ Shiv - The display is flickering due to the frame rate I chose. I didn't notice on the day as I was trying to be discreet about filming there. Can be avoided normally.

@ Jackson - Thanks for the comments. Totally agree about the slider and am ordering up some parts to build one very soon.

Slider Suggestion
Joe, What A Ripper!! Really illustrates the true worth of this camera ... in the right hands.

This link may be of help with slider, Igus compnents, with product reference # for slider construction.

I'm keen to track your progress with the GH1. Cheers.

Ron - Thanks! Yes - the Igus components are what I'm going for. We clearly hang out at the same parts of the internet... Been following that thread and will get to it v soon. Will let you know how I get on.

beautifully framed, really nice pace. I think the shot with the lady in purple walking amongst the hedges is my favorite - very nice one.
