Another WIP shot. No audio yet. This one is visually pretty much complete. May need to tweak one or two aspects for the final composition.

Hi Craig, that's great. I love the camera move on this. Time consuming to put together?

Thx Glenn. Developing a workflow that would allow me to easily apply the effect to a variety of different models was the most time-consuming part - took about a week overall. From here I can produce another shot with a different model and camera movement in a couple of hours.

I love it Craig! Keep up the great work!

Wow, that's great you have the workflow down tight. Especially if it enables you to have shots like this done in 2 hours.

Lego can't be assembled from the side so it doesn't look like it makes sense, but maybe that doesn't matter. Lego is cool after all, just saying I'd love it even more if the pieces assembled correctly...
Happy christmas

Hi Daniel

Thank you for your comments. Yeah, there are always ideas that never make it through to the final product due to budgetary and/or time constraints.

In the digital environment, virtually anything can be portrayed given an adequate supply of money and resource. I gave consideration to details such as those which you mentioned both here and on my other post. Some aspects, such as the assembly of the pieces in the physically correct manner, required more development time than my deadline allowed.

I also made several deliberate decisions to favor aesthetics over real-world accuracy, as in the case of the character animation. For the purposes of the finished product, of which these shots are a part, I wanted the animation to be entertaining to the eye, rather than being a true and accurate representation of the real world. In this case, I had to commit considerably more time to achieving the look that I was after, than if I had simply duplicated the movement of real LEGO characters. Achieving arms and legs that bend and deform "convincingly" consumed several days of my time.

You can see all of these shots in their finished context here : http://exposureroom.com/garmentworx
