La Libellule deprimée doit son nom à la forme de son corps (et non pas à un quelconque trait de caractère ;-) ) , elle est très commune dans toute l'Europe. On la rencontre surtout au bord des eaux stagnantes, des petites mares où elle se reproduit mais aussi des grandes pièces d'eau dans les régions marécageuses.
