Philip Bloom    September 15, 2008 06:05 PM
Double cameo!

Great images though. I like the colours a lot, although the image doesn't seem to be sharp at all times.

What frame rate and resolution did you shoot?

Did you colour grade your shoes in post?

Cheers mate, thanks for showing. This is really interesting stuff.

it isnt super sharp all the time. It didnt like my 14-24mm zoom lens that much. Shot 720p 24p and graded the lot with MBL. My shoes are naturally green!!

It's a DSLR.. and though it's not really what you're looking at while choosing one,
this movie mode option looks quite a nice feature.
Ecellent, if you consider the kind of glass you can actually shoot with..

I don't think these will ever replace 35mm adapters, because the charm of these adapters is in their GG's grain, which i think will remain a unique feature for translating a mood. Much like choosing a certain kind of film, without having to do it all in post. When reading books on cinematography from before the digital era, i find the craft of choosing the right grain something very interesting and I would hate to see it replaced by Magic Bullet entirely.
This Nikon may in a few years time grow well into a consumer version of the RED camera, if the RED Scarlet isn't under a 1000$ by that time of course :)

I noticed the softness. In one clip I also notice a little artifacting. I love the idea of this camera especially because of the fact that I own Zeiss nikon mount lenses. I saw some video from the Pentax K20D and it looked amazing. Have you ever done a review on it, and if so how does the d90 shape up against it?

Wonderful work by the way. I always get excited when my message box reads that you have uploaded another video.

Grench

The pictures are amazing for a camera whose priority is as a still cam. That said, the exposure lattitude seemed a bit narrow, with easily blown highlights and crushed blacks in many scenes. I don't know for sure, but the colors didn't have the nice creamy look to them that I'm used to.
My wife wants to buy one that she saw in Costco the other day, but I was thinking of holding out for the more expensive Canon offering that also offers a full 1080p/24 mode.

Brilliant
This is good stuff with the D90, i have seen other videos but this one can be a demo for the killer 35mm adapter. Then again your composition and framing never cease to amaze me.

Good job!
