Really Nice close ups

Framing and composition are amazing! Excellent work Commander Bloom. Lead us!!

Is the Miller Tripod and Ex3/letus 2/3 Nikkor 80-200 lens Heavy to work with? How heavy? Did you drive to this shoot, take a train walk? In public spaces do you have a Press pass? Or you disguise yourself as one of the many street cams???

Thanks Thomas. Yes it is a bit heavy. But it is just workable. Didn't want to bring my large tripod with me. I drove to this shoot and had a crash on the way. Read about it on my blog!

You don't need a press pass in public places, but I was asked by some community bod and I did show mine just so he would go away rather than have the age old argument that I don't need permission etc...

Hey Phil,

Nice cinematography.. As a DOP, you're one of the best new breeds here. Simply stunning work. However, forgive me if i am blunt but there is nothing else. Everything I see is slow-motion and time-lapses. Brilliantly shot and colored but that's just it. I don't get to see much 'story' in the newest work. I'm just bored of all these montages. Editing wise is more or less the same.

Your pieces of the the five religions were great and I am just expecting more stuff like that from you. I'm sure you can come out with brilliant pieces if you wanted to and its just a shame if everything else down the line were more of this. Again, I sincerely apologise for being blunt but I'm afraid we'd lose such a great talent if nobody here push you forward.

PS. A documentary would be nice. You're good at those :)

Appreciate the comments David, but don't worry am being pushed every day. 99 percent of what I do is not allowed to be on Vimeo or here on XR. I don't own the rights or have permission.

What you see every now and then on here is just my hobby stuff, testing out cameras and gear etc...For example today I was shooting a pilot for a new show and I also have a new Discovery HD show coming on TV soon that I haven't seen...but I never will be able to post them online.

There is not supposed to be a story in these shorts, they are just my fun. Like someone taking photos. Sometimes they are deeper and tell a story of sorts, but not where I have just a couple of hours to shoot!

Best,

Phil

Beautifully shot and great music. Always such a pleasure to watch your little 'meditations'. Makes me want to hang around Piccadilly Circus. Which I know I don't. Which just goes to show how effective the piece is... :-)
