Excerpt from the poems of Dmitry Mizgulin read by Boris Burlyaev.

Made for "Russian hour"

The full unabridged poems run to 30 minutes for all of them. There are 16 different poems, this is just one line from 10 different ones it probably makes no sense whatsoever!

Shot on the Canon 5dmkII

Sound recorded separately.

Stunning!

Incredible looking! well done. The audio sounded so good as well. Were you using the Zoom H4n, or some other device?

That is some awesome low light coverage. The 5D is amazing. What lens were you using for the inside shots?

Very beautiful. Don't even need to know Russian to enjoy that. That shot outside seemed slightly out of place, but maybe that related to something in the poem?

Wow, Philip! The lighting is extraordinary. Did you use any other than available lights? Intro shot is breathtaking.

Wow

Stunning candle-lightning. Amazing low light capabilities from the 5D. Nice work.
Where are the subtitles ;)

yeah, this is a test edit to show the client the different locations and to get a feel for it. It's not one poem, it's part of 16 totally different ones so different locations for each one

cool

What really makes this great to me besides the cinematography (which is incredible), is the sound. I have gone on record as saying a dead give away to an indie project is bad sound or lack of sound design. All of the conversations on Exposure Room and Vimeo are all about the video and image, can you even remember a conversation about sound.

We are so accustomed to Hollywood looped sound that we preceive that as the norm. They are adding in just the right amount of nat sound, which is very hard to do when actually recording a scene with live mics. Anyways, the sound in this piece with it's reverb just makes this scene so much more powerful and magical. Well done. Let's all focus on sound.
