An extreme way to get a room upgrade or a sign that I just work too hard. First night of my holiday in Dubai after shooting a documentary here and this is my nightmare...

Great job Philip! I have had the same problem, not being able to sleep because of the video bug! I really enjoyed this one.

Ah Philip, a kindred spirit! I loved Koyaanisqatsi and Philip Glass and have been wanting to pay tribute to them ever since. You've done a beautiful job (as usual) and you're pissing me off.....you're TOO damn productive! ;-) Well done, young man.

Because of your movies I'm sleepless as well. Bougth the ex1 two month ago and can't stop filming now - you never mentioned that shooting on the EX is going to be addictive... The pictures are beautiful as always ;-) do you use a special "night"timelapse picture profile? everything looks so bright and colorful...

Philip, you're the master, the nightshots are awsome. Makes me sleepless as well...
It's amazing, that the EX1 can cope with these extreme contrast of the construction site lighting. I think, this is one of the outstanding properties of this cam. BTW: Yesterday I read an article in the german Magazine "Kameramann", which compared the SONY F900 with some other small HD-cams: EX1 turned out to be the only one, which showed a comparable contrast behavior to the F900(!).

i only did a few shots to knock together to show the manager so I could get an upgrade to sea view. it worked!
I mean that Philip Glasss is great and all but his music IS very loud at 3AM.

Looks like you didn't get ANY sleep at all that night--but the results were well worth it. A marvelous masterpiece, one of my favorites!

Bloom... I loved that! It made me smile all the way through. There's a clever thing you've done with different shutter speeds on the timelapse to give different feelings - blurred on the car lights, sharp on some cars later in daylight, blurs on the concrete lorry.
We all look forward to the timelapse seaview....

Phil,
I liked the concept of this one, with you opening and closing the door and stuff. Every hotel manager in Dubai is going to hold his breadth each time he sees someone walking in with a camera from here on in!
So what's the rest of Dubai like? I spent 2 years there before I moved to the US. Those guys can put highways miles lonf, over night with trees and grass and all. I can just imagine how much it has grown with all that construction boom.

Phil,
Love the new edit with the door open/close sequence and the way you've handled the audio and music.
Also like the ending with the "Room with a View". Nice touch.

It made me think of an ant hill... little ants running all over busy at work. I totally laughed out loud when the door shut and re-opened.
Great color.

The opening shots made me think of a modern dance, with the cranes as the dancers. Frenetic dancing, frantic pace, enter stage left the moon, and then the sun, and then the rest of the world. All join on stage for the finale, before the door is pulled shut, and there is calm at last.
It's seems like an abstract painting where everyone sees something different. But we all agree on the quality of the shots. I enjoy that the hues of the world vary throughout the period of time. It's your special touch to capture and render this as a humorous gem of a "nightmare".
