A few VERY random shots knocked off with the Nikon adaptor that I just got in Kauai.

Shot using $90 adaptor from ebay in China and my Nikon Zeiss f1.4 50mm. With the adaptor this became more like a 100mm...

Few issues with the camera shooting 25p interfering with the 60hz artificial lights but no way round that here...be fine in UK ;-)

Wish codec was stronger....17mbps bit stingy.

Amazing! And from a consumer level camera. Wow...

It's really COOL! Amazing result with DOF!
Thank you, Philip.

Looking Good
Willem Van den Broeck    May 01, 2009 08:37 PM

Footage seems a lot better than what i saw from the new Canon and Nikon camera's (not counting 5DmkII)

To me this is quality footage, and while i would say my HV30 still does better, this seems very very good indeed.

Was the Zeiss at 1.4, Philip? Because the shot at the bar counter (ice cubes) still seems dark for such a normally well-lit bar. Or was that just a really dark bar?

I'd like to see some footage with a f1.2.

I assume the GH1 cannot autofocus the Zeiss, can it?

Hi Willem..

I have an HV30...there is no way it can compete with the low light and shallow DOF which this cam offers...the codec isn't as strong as hdv though.

For me to get similar looking images out of the HV30 I need to attach my letus mini to it!
Willem Van den Broeck    May 01, 2009 08:52 PM

Hey Philip,

You're right. The HV30 lense only goes till around f2.0 or so, and even then i think the image is quite noisy (without gain). I was referring to the colours, actually.

Did you read my edit of my earlier remark?
I asked whether the GH1 can autofocus the Zeiss. Can it?

The autofocus for HD shooting is something like a dream to me, since i often get blurry footage, because i don't have a monitor.
And the DOF of course. I really like this camera.

sorry no it can't Willem. Full manual. The stock lens on the gh1 is very good really. just not super fast but does everything else really well.
Willem Van den Broeck    May 01, 2009 08:55 PM

Let's hope its price doesn't hurt too much, and i might well sell the HV30 for this one. Thanks for sharing, Philip.

how

How did you get the ZF on it.
I thought it had non nikon mount, did you use an adapter?
Looks a little noisy. What say you?
