Phil,
Ok, I'm totally floored by this video! I mean I was there for most of the making of this video and I saw what you saw. While there and since then, I've been trying to visualize or imagine what your Vegas short would look like but couldn't really. Now after seeing it, there is no way I could come up with these visuals.

This just goes to show that it's all about how one see or visualizes things, and that two people could see the same things and film the same things but the footage each shoots and then the final edit each one makes is what really makes (or breaks) a film.

I have a whole new appreciation for what you can do with a camera while at the same time a stark realization that this is going to be an enjoyable but uphill task even for someone like me who just enjoys this stuff and would like to one day produce a short that looks something like this.

Brilliant shots and great edit!

Ok, now that I’ve recovered and reconciled myself, I have a question, I know I didn’t see you panning during those time lapses (unless I’m totally blind) so how did you do the panning?
Philip Bloom    April 20, 2008 12:46 AM

the edit was 720p due to all the overcrank and the timelpases were 1080p so it was simply done in post. cheers shiv. When is your stuff up? You seen steve's blog?
Shiv Kumar    April 20, 2008 01:17 AM

Oh I see so you simply moved the frame along in post. Cool. See, that's what I mean. One little thing after another makes for a great video.

We're planning for the beginning of next month. We need to get our ducks in a row.

WOW!

Since finding XR, I hadn't taken time to watch a video uploaded in HD. That was simply amazing. What percent were you slowing the people down? That seemed to be a really good slo-mo speed.
Philip Bloom    April 20, 2008 11:46 AM

most was done in camera shooting at 60fps instead of 25fps, so about 40% speed. Most of the night time shots were done in post as there wasn't enough light for overcrank. they were 50%. Thanks v much Ryan

Phillip, your work is amazing. The night time shots look awesome. I'm curious to know which lenses you were using, since you must of had a pretty fast lens for those night shots. When you say overcrank, do you mean in post? overcranking the white levels?

I posted some test videos on my site as I get accustomed to my Letus 35 Elite on my XH-A1. I will also be posting some music videos I recently completed. Good to have you as a friend on XR.
