Phil,
A true portrait of Siberia I feel. It definitely opened my eyes to what Siberia is. People wear colorful clothes and there is so much greenery there. I was also amazed with the architecture they have there. They way you depicted it, it looked so pristine.
There are some really good shots here. I especially loved those wide angle ones. Is that a 17mm or something? It’s a pity the clouds came in the way of the Solar eclipse.
My favorite shots
1. @0:20 the greenery with the reflection of the sky and clouds in the water. Takes you by surprise for a second.
2. @0:47
3. Time lapse @ 1:32, beautiful angle and composition
4. @1:45 those goblets or whatever
5. @1:53
6. @2:28 the fountain against the hot sun, and the next one, both tremendous shots.
Well, there’s just so many great shots.
This video has been an eye opener for me on many levels. What Siberia and it’s people are like and how you don’t cease to amaze me with your work.

Siberian Perfection
Phil,
Did you get to pick all of your subjects and locations or were they assigned to you and you shot them in the way you felt best? I must say I have heard of Siberia all my life as a prison like place where it's winter all year. Very harsh environment. I didn't see any snow whatsoever. It's really top notch work. I expected no less of a video shot by you. Again, a triumph. Spot on!

I wish Ewan and Charlie had taken you on their trip. The Long Way Round is so nice to follow, but the image quality is quite horrible. Glad to see some beautiful Siberia, too!

What I like about this piece, other than the outstanding cinematography, is that I never really pictured Siberia like this! I always pictured a perpetually cold place where everybody is always bundled up.
But I suppose if we really stop and think, most places are not what they're made out to be in the media or in movies. I guess we know that, but don't think about it much.
We're all just people trying to make it, aren't we?

I thought at the opening, this was going to be a sinister/ dark piece and it was a real surprise when it turned into a portrait of seemingly happy people. Nicely done.
I really liked the use of some of the shots with deep focus, like the marble floor in the church. Were these shot with the EX1 clean?

Great job as usual....
Color and sence selection was excellent. When I get my EX3, I will come to England for us to shoot together... to add a little of soul to the shots...

Still, with movement
An interesting technique: video but the people, some of them, posing as if in a portrait. Very well done. You could tell they weren't stills..there were small subtle movements. This really shows what you can do. It's very well done and I wish you all the best!
