Hmmmmmm

Clever workaround, but why can't the boys at Canon just put the DAMN 24P into the camera! Sorry for that outburst.

Philip, Thanks for posting, really appreciated. I'm downloading the original now.

Take Two

Hey Philip, At the risk of sounding like the complete (novice) village idiot. Why not use MPEG Streamclip for the compete production?

I placed a 5Dmk2 ProRes 422 48 sec 1.3 gb file into Streamclip. Set the framerate for 23.98, hit make movie. About 20 sec later there it was sitting on the desk top. Dropped into a new sequence, checked in item properties, 24p 1 gb 48 sec duration 21.3 mps Pro Res 422. On playing in canvas the audio was correct, duration 48 sec.

I did a second sequence with the original 30 fps clip Checked properties. 27.3mps 1.3 gb, duration 48 sec, Pro Res 422.

So what do you reckon. It's probably time for my Milo Milk & early night.

but was it smooth Ron?

Philip, Have rendered a 1920 1080 .mov, To me, looking at it playing out in QT player, has the appearance and characteristics of the original clip. To be honest I really can't tell the difference between 30, 25, or 24p.

The item properties list the correct details for 24p, it has the same duration as the 30 FPS clip. Most of all on a practical basis the audio is, to me, absolutely identical to the original clip.

How about you trying a short clip, to evaluate.

Perhaps you could post your findings here. Regards.

Sorry

I've played a reduction of both along side one another. The short finding is this, you are correct, I'm wrong. At 43 sec 30 FPS is displaying the same frame as 24 FPS at 48 sec !! How embarrassing. It's funny because the audio has no marked distortion.

Sorry about this. Perhaps it's best I install Cinema Tools, as I have had no need of them, up to now.

The tutorial download plays very well, Will study and use. Much appreciated.

Cheers.
