I'd live with the 5D Mark II anyday!

Thanks for doing this test Phil. Not only does it show some of us "what" the issue really is, it also shows us how simply one can create it and therefore to be careful of when shooting.

Philip, This really spells it out... Both cameras are winners...Work around the hiccups. Thanks for posting.

Great example

Great example of what rolloing shutter is, thanks.

Great rolling shutter comparison. I read that it improved form the 5D.... but 7D is still pretty bad.

Now Philip.... honest answer. Letus35 Ultimate on an XHA1 or one of the "D;s"? What to you reach for first?

Nice test!

It's funny, I just bought a cheap little Canon SX200 still camera last week which has a CCD sensor and shoots 720P. To be honest, I'm amazed how good the image quality is for video shot on a camera that fits in my pocket. It records at 24mbps which is better than the GH1! Anyway, it's so nice to have a camera with no rolling shutter to worry about. If only Canon could build a sensor like that for these pro SLR cameras.
