Phil,
Another Piccadilly Furs style video, just beautiful. The loved the colors and light you got on this one. The Free Hugs shot was pretty cute I thought.

So what was that thing @ 2:10? Very colorful. The time lapse at the end with the panning was superb. How do you do that? Did you just sit under the camera and twist the head?
Shibuya Furs?

Whoa!

That motorized tripod head is badass! May I ask how you achieved the similar time-lapse zoom you had on the LV video?
Philip Bloom    April 28, 2008 10:16 AM

Hi Will, that wasn't as extreme movement. I shot it 1080p had a 720p timeline so zoomed it and tracked along!
Will Mahoney    April 28, 2008 11:32 AM

Very tricky! I'll have to try that. I'm doing a big car show in Chicago this weekend and I want to try out some time-lapse stuff. I'm being flown out to my first big show!! I can't wait!
Will Mahoney    April 28, 2008 12:59 PM

Ok, I just pulled up some 1080 footage into a 720 timeline and I can totally see how to work that move. Nice!

Really liked the clip. Beautiful shots. Fantastic looking city. Really good tip about 1080p in a 720p timeline motorized head. Thanks for sharing.

Shibuya download?

Hi Phil...

I joined XR, but still can't see a "download original" link for Shibuya? It's there for Death Valley, however...

I had my first "hands on" for a day with an EX1 yesterday. Loved the images, but found the ergonomics a bit annoying (a bitch to hand-hold, features buries deep in menus which ideally should be on the camera body etc). Do you believe the EX3 eliminates those annoyances? I hated having to scroll through a bloody menu to get to the frame frame rates!

I'm looking at making a purchase later in the year, and I'd love an EX3, but I've also got to factor recording media, on the road back-up and archiving into the equation.

Thanks Phil,

Jack R

Death Valley

Hi again Phil...

I just downloaded Death Valley from XR, and it reports as an unrecognised file type? I never had issues of any sort when I was downloading from your site?

Weird...sorry to be a pest....I just really love watching your work on my big screen!

no idea. Maybe ask Shiv from XR? Perhaps the aspect ratio is the problem? You could go to vimeo.com/philipbloom and download that one in the meantime
Shiv Kumar    April 30, 2008 01:03 AM

Jack,

I've downloaded the original file from XR and it plays perfectly on my Machine. The fact that our servers were able to transcode this video to multiple versions means that the server's were able to "play" it as well.

Now we don't touch the original in any fashion. We simply store it in a safe place.

I'd like to give you an ftp site so you upload that video to the site, so we can check it.

Phil,
Did you disallow downloading on the original asset? I don't see the download link
Philip Bloom    April 30, 2008 01:26 AM

not done anything!
Shiv Kumar    April 30, 2008 01:35 AM

Ok :).
We recently added the ability for member's to allow or disallow the downloading of the original video. When you go into "Edit" mode and then Edit the video you'll see a checkbox (under the thumbnail in the edit screen) that says "Allow Download of original". This is checked by default. If it's not, please check it.

Hearing Nat King Cole singing in Japanese was really a gas!

I love Japan. I'll have to visit Tokyo real soon. What a gorgeous city.

Great cinematography work, as usual, Phil!
