CORR Rounds IX & X Pomona, CA
Jeff Kincaid Motorsports went into the Fairplex in Pomona for the 3rd time this race season, this time with the points lead in hand. Unfortunately, Pomona seemed to have a thing for causing the backup truck to be used because of a mishap in the first practice. It happened in Rounds I & II with a rollover, but this time because of a fluke happening where a pin dropped into the engine and broke a dowel on a cam. Jeff had qualified 6th and was inverted to the pole position, but had to start in last because of using the backup truck. Jeff worked his way up through the pack and lots of mayhem to finish 7th. He finished ahead of 2nd and 3rd place in points at the time Rob Naughton and Rodrigo Ampudia, respectively.
Sunday Jeff qualified 6th again and was inverted to 3rd. He held his 3rd to the competition caution by racing smart and not getting tangled up. However a battery cable broke and Jeff noticed the truck started missing, so he had to fight hard to hold his position. With lots of contact from other drivers Jeff ended up having a tire roll off the bead. He pulled into the pits and the truck shut off due to lack of power and wasn't started again during the race because the problem was unknown at the time. Jeff had to settle for 20th.
Jeff is now 3rd in points, fortunately only down to 2nd place Marty Hart by 1, and 1st place Rob Naughton by 16.
