WoW!

Rebecca Rowland    June 19, 2008 08:55 AM
This is amazing. Where you able to shoot this all in one dive?

ron chau    June 19, 2008 08:14 PM
The diving was good, but not that good. These are the highlights of a 12 day trip.

David Rowland    June 21, 2008 12:15 PM
The diving wasn't *that* good? Who are you kidding? Some of that diving looked to be every bit as good as it was on my most recent trip to Dominica and every bit as good as I remember it on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and out in the Coral Sea.
Wow is about all I can say. I really enjoyed your choices of music for the sound track. Syncing the first piece up with the movement of the school of fish was fantastic. I can hardly wait for the other parts.

Let me clarify, Rebecca asked if the video was shot all in 1 dive, the diving was incredible, but not THAT, incredible. LOL !

Ron,

I have a fascination with these underwater creatures, and thoroughly enjoyed your videography of them. You have captured them with all their personalities showing. Wonderful. You were very lucky and very patient, too, it would seem, to get the shots that you did.

On the music, I personally think it would be better to find just one piece of music, and then edit the shots you've got to the one piece.

Overall, you've done a wonderful job following these creatures with your camera, and catching them doing the various things that they do. Love it.

Peg, be sure to watch the other 2 videos Ron has posted. I think this video will make more sense in the context of the other two.

The different segments set to different music was a bit discordant to me too. Since I felt each segment went well with its sound track, I wrote it off as an artistic decision on Ron's part and looked past it. Then when I viewed parts 3 and 4, I realized that this video was really a highlights reel and now it makes more sense to me.

Just my thoughts.

Ron, so far, these videos are true artistry. You have reached out and grabbed me as a viewer and make me long to go diving again. Great job!

Dave you are correct. The 1st video I uploaded is a preview of my whole 20 minute video. I divided the video into 5 parts as I changed music and created 5 separate video files to make internet viewing easier. Over the weekend I uploaded parts 3 & 4, since they are my personal favorite sections. When I get a chance I'll upload the other parts.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Ron,

I agree with all the other comments. These videos are fantastic. I really enjoyed watching all of them. You've managed to capture a wide array of sea creatures. I thought I'd seen them all on the Discovery channel.

Even though all of this is the result of 12 days of diving, there is an incredible variety of stuff here. The colors of these creatures are so brilliant, it's amazing. Your introductions and music made these videos all the more interesting as well. Now if only you'd named this things :).

By the way, did you use some sort of light along with your camera or is the light we see, sun light?

Is this (diving) something you do often? I ask because you zeroed in on some of these creatures and they were so well camouflaged that at times I couldn't tell what you were focusing on but you obviously seemed to know there was something there.

I usually go 2-3 dive trips a year and make a dive vacation video after each trip. Most of my diving has been in the Caribbean and Indonesia is just a totally different and way better experience. Many people say Indonesia has the most diverse sea life.

I used lights for the closeup shots of the small creatures and the night dive scenes.
