It is generally believed that Monopoly was invented in America in 1934. Historian Benjamin Woolley discovers that a version of it was being played in Britain 25 years earlier (under the name Brer' Fox and Brer' Rabbit) and investigates how the idea for the game was first conceived by a socialist activist at the turn of the century (Arts Dept - BBC TV)
