This video is part of an article in which I attempt to clear up some issues members seem to have with regards to aspect ratios. I see a lot of videos that appear "squished" or letter boxed when there is really no need for them to be.

I really like that Shiv!

It's short and sweet with beautiful colors, nice reflections and the music is appropriate.
Nice camera angle and placement of objects, also it's interesting to watch the depth of field changing along the line as wine gets poured.

What type of light setup did you use, and was this shot in a studio environment? It looks like you have some sort of black backdrop.

This video is intentionally made to look at bit squished because it's part of an article I wrote that I hope will help people here fix some of these issues.

The real video for this is here There is a blog associate with the video that gives more info on what I did to get this portion to look good.

It was studio in as far as being a controlled environment, yes. Windows were blocked off using black drape and one of those is the backdrop to this video as well. I had two large soft boxes on either side, positioned and angled in a way that the reflections you see in the glasses were acceptable.

For this particular shot I was using a Nikon 50mm f/1.4 wide open so the DOF was very shallow (about an inch or so) and the distance between the lens and the first glass was about a foot (the minimum focus distance of that lens. What you see is probably the 3 take. Which means, pour the wine back into the bottle, wash and dry the glasses and wipe the surface clean between each take.
