This is video shot in the Columbia River Gorge just outside of Portland Oregon. This video is the first in a series I'm planning highlighting our trip to the west coast. The video was shot with a Canon XH A1. I shot all of the footage in the automatic mode. Almost all was handheld, I did not have my tripod. I edited in Final Cut Express. This is a program I am still becoming familiar with. I hope anyone who watches this, enjoys the scenery as much as I enjoyed being there. Music by Rick Wakeman, "Jerusalem".

1. Try to use the manual features on the camera. If you want to get the truly stunning results that the A1 can produce, take the time to learn how to use it in Manual mode. Setting the exposure manually and keeping the gain at -3 will do wonders for your footage.

2. If you're in an unfamiliar place, ask some of the locals to pronounce its name correctly :]

Thanks for the tip. I'll experiment with that. My wife got tongue tied, pretty good observation to catch that.

I am sorry to say this, but this video is really bad.
Bad in colors, quality and about a half a dozen things I can add.
Shooting with an A1 should be sharp, clear and full of great colors!
If I didn't know it was shot with an A1 I'd say it was a $100.00 point and shoot cheapy camera.

As Russ said above comment, ya gotta get to know your camera before you can make good video :)
Don't take this personally, it's a good advice when someone points out how you can make better use of your camera.

A1 produce fantastic images when you have it all set up correctly.

Take a look at the crisp colors and sharpeness :)
It's a cool little video, am sure you'll like it.
So, you have a far better camera then the HV-20 with more control over what you can do.
