This piece was suppose to be an audition reel for georgia. We got a bit carried away.. -we did the shoot in around 2 hours. She voiced it the following day in one take.

Lighting was just two sources. Both DIY. A spiral flou array and a MH lamp to illuminate the outside of the balusters.

Screenplay was by Brian Luce adapted from a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, The Tell Tale Heart.

Shot with DIY 35mm adapter with nikon mount.
Lenses used; 50mm, 80-200mm.

Hello again Ted.

You have there a nice look and flow to the scene.

It seems a homage to or derived from your family's background in portrait work with the desaturated colour and your lens choices.

Your client would have to go a long way to equal this as a showcase for her ability.

You are correct, Since it is an audition reel i didn't use wides that would distort her looks. To light it I was thinking more of Rembrandt, thus that triangular shape formed by the shadow on her right cheek.

Beautiful

Hello Ted, really like this short ... beautiful lighting highlights well the beauty and mood of the subject matter.
The mood acting works very well - The voiceover is convincing too as we hear her thoughts.

The lighting and framing shows superb photographic skills - you could pause almost any frame and be more than happy with the still in its own right as a photograph.

Like a lot the lighting on Georgia, simple and very soft.

What's the MH lamp?

Sandro,
MH are metal halide lamps used for outdoor advertising. I used the one that has daylight color and placed it in a custom made softbox.

Sandro,

its those lights that illuminate outdoor billboards. They have a long throw, cool, durable and relatively cheap. I made sure to house it inside a custom soft box since its not advisable to look into the bare lamp.

Take note that in my video, this light was the one that lit the wide opening sequence where you can see the balusters, in the the mid shots however, a custom made florescent lamp array provided the main light which i also encased in a custom built soft box.

The MH lamp provided the fill light in the subsequent scenes.
