Viimar,

That was pretty nice. You've got some great compositions and angles in some of those shots. The squirrel was pretty neat as well. Can't say I've seen a squirrel with pointed ears.

I'm assuming you've used a 35mm adapter? Ideally, you should set up the equipment you've used in the Equipment area of the video instead of tags.

Thanks Shiv!
Good to hear that at least some shots were great :)
I'm sorry to say but I don't have 35mm adapter. It is done with plain stock lens the xh-a1 has. For some shots I used tripod.
That squirrel was fun. I was trying to be invisible and get as close as possible for filming. Then I got good position and started filming. As I was doing it hand held, after minute or so I got tired of acting like a tree without any movement. Then I started moving myself but squirrel didn't care. Then I started making noises, but squirrel still carried on with its lunch. Finally it noticed me and jumped away. That was fun experience. I've seen lot of those squirrels but I never had camera with me before. So, now I nailed it :)

So then you've shot most of it at the long end of the lens. I didn't get the "compressed" feeling that one normally gets when using a telephoto.

Yup you nail him. Gosh there are so many moments that go by me that I wish I had a camera with me. Not using a tripod gives one the opportunity to experiment with angles and positions and that's quite apparent in this video.

Wow!
Viimar,
Wow, what strange place is this? That squirrel was a fun little guy and I've never seen one like that around here.

I especially liked the railroad track shot, the low-angle of the gate (with lovely yellow/brown moss), and some of the close-ups of various rusty/weathered things. Nicely done.

Thanks Will! I'm glad you liked my video.
In general, this strange place is Eastern-European country Estonia.

I was especially looking for shots and details you can’t find in urban area. Those rusty things, old gate and house I found in old farm. For some shots I went to forest where I met this squirrel. Some shots of flowers and trees I took in my back yard.
Last time I was in Cleveland I didn’t see any local squirrel, so it is hard for me to compare. For me it looks like normal squirrel in every way. It would be nice if you could find a picture of squirrel you have used to. Post link here.
Anyway if there is anything I didn’t answer or you have any other questions then just leave your comment here on XR.

Wanna see a Cleveland, Ohio, United States squirrel?

Check out 00:22 of this video and you'll see what I captured in my back yard.

That little bugger messes with my dog daily. :)

Yeah, you can't see the whole squirrel. I had one heck of a time getting him to sit still even long enough for this shot.

Viimar Lindau    May 14, 2008 02:08 PM
Yes Will, I'd like to see the type of squirrel you've used to see in your area. I just like to know what is the difference as you are not the first who is pointing that squirrel out being somehow special and/or different.
This video of yours doesn't give me the answer as there is not much I can see of this little bugger.

Shiv Kumar    May 14, 2008 02:51 PM
Your squirrel has pointed ears with lots of long strands of hair. Ours don't :). Or at least the ones I've seen in India and the US don't. Our squirrels don't have hair on their ears and the ears are kind of rounded.

Viimar Lindau    May 14, 2008 04:09 PM
Thanks Shiv!
Meanwhile I googeled for squirrel photos and now I got the point what you and Will were talking about. As here up north it is getting cold during winter, then wild animals need longer and thicker hair all over their body... including ears as we all saw from my video :)
