We have changed the asset upload technology to remove the element that was causing many members to experience problems, most notably the infamous "#2038" problem.

The underpinnings of the previous technology was to use the flash player for uploading your assets.  This has been changed to use straight HTML for file uploading.  Thus the flash player is no longer used for uploading assets, but is still used for playing videos.

After undergoing a number of upload tests with some wonderful members who took the time to help us, we discovered fewer problems with the HTML version of uploading.  The only challenge remaining for us was to provide the "upload feedback" (aka "progress bar") as was done with the flash uploader.  We now have that feedback mechanism in place, and it looks very similar to that of the flash version's.

The biggest difference between the two different uploads is that now you need to press "two" buttons instead of one.  The first, to "browse" to your file, and the second to "upload" after you've browsed and selected your file.

The series of images below illustrate the steps:

Upload Screen - Browse button disabled until "Asset Type" is selected:

Upload Screen -  Browse button enabled:

Upload Screen after browsing and selecting file:

Upload Screen after pressing "Upload":

Once upload is Complete:

We hope that this gives you more consistently reliable uploads.

Thanks

That worked okay, but I only had a 2.7MB file this time, so not a real test.
Something odd I did notice with this upload only, is that the Equipment list is missing most of the entries. Only about 15% of the equipment list appears when I attempt to edit equipment for this upload. I don't know if that's because of the fact that I chose a different category, but I thought I'd mention it.

UPDATE: Okay, I see why the list was short.. animation loop as the type changed the available options. Changing it to "short" fixed this.
