If your website or blog uses WordPress, you can now embed ExposureRoom videos in your site.

Using our plug-in makes embedding ExposureRoom Videos in your WordPress blog a breeze.
A simple tag like this:

[xr_video id="4c0151e5f72941f682d49eca99ed7e4a" size="md"]

will embed an ExposureRoom video in your blog.

Please note that this plug-in can only be  used if your are hosting your own website or your hosting provider uses WordPress to host your blog. If your blog is currently on wordpress.com then this plug-in is not for you.

Working with WordPress

We’re also working with the WordPress people directly so that ExposureRoom embed codes become first class citizens of WordPress. This will allow those of you who host your blogs on wordpress.com to embed ExposureRoom videos. This may take a while, but the response so far has been very positive. We will also add a special link to get the WordPress embed code in the "share it" section of an asset, when that happens.

Supported Attributes

id:        The value of id attribute is the id of the asset (video) on ExposureRoom.

size:        The size attribute can have the following values - sm, md, lr (for low, medium and HD respectively).

width:    If you use the width attribute, the video will be re-sized to the width specified. The height will be determined automatically as per the aspect ratio of the video. Valid values are positive integers.

titleColor:    The titleColor attribute is optional and expects colors in hex (eg: #ffffff for white and #000000 for black etc.).

title: Use this attribute to turn the title on or off. Valid values are true or false. The default is false. The title appears under the video as an <H1> tag so the look and feel will match your website's style. Note that this attribute does not control the title and credit that appears inside the video player.

titlePosition: This attribute can have the following values - above, below. If you have turned on the title (by setting the title attribute to true) then you can control the position of the title to be either above or below the video. By default the position is above, but you can set it to show below the video by setting the value of this attribute to be below (titlePosition="below").

description: Use this attribute to turn the description of your video on or off. The default is false. The description appears under the video and under the title if the title is present.

You can download the plug-in from the WordPress site directly. You'll find the instructions there as well, but it's really very simple.

You can watch this video tutorial to see it all in action

Autoplay option?

Shiv:

Would it be possible to add the autoplay option? This would be useful when a single video is featured on a page, or when several are featured, allowing the top one to autoplay upon pageload.

Lang,

Technically it is possible. However, we don't believe auto play serves any positive purpose (it has many drawbacks and a negative experience for the viewer).

For example, what if (as a viewer) I want to view the second video and not the first? As a typical viewer, I don't know:
1. Stop the first video from playing
2. Now that the first video has started, and the rest of the video is being streamed, I should wait for it to complete downloading before playing any other video.

If I don't do any of the above, I'll have a really bad experience viewing videos. Imagine my experience now with the third video?

So really, from a web page design point of view, I'd suggest not having more than one video on the page. Or have a carousel kind of thing that allows the viewer to pick one video at a time.

you're right, but . . .

I need it for use on my home page where there will be a single "featured video clip" that should begin playing automatically upon page load. There won't be any other videos on the page.

One other thing. If one were to post several videos on a page and have the first one autoplay, then you would need to add a real "stop" button to the controller that discontinues upload. That way a person could actually stop the upload of the one that is playing before starting another.

The classic "1pixelOut wordpress audio player plugin" has the great feature of allowing only one player on a page to play at any one time. In other words, if there are several players on a page and one is playing, that player stops (and collapses) whenever a second player is enabled. Very nifty indeed. You can check out an example here:

This would be a terrific feature to add to a video player and would totally solve the problem of posting several videos on a page and not being able to stop the upload of any particular video once it has begun.

Video Position on the page

How do you Center the video on a page you embed it on? I am unable to adjust the positioning of the video.

Embeded Audio

Hello. I'm really liking the embed features. One question I have is how to embed audio from XR on my website. I don't see an embed feature anywhere on audio content that I've uploaded. I would appreciate any help with this. Thanks.

Shiv Kumar    June 01, 2010 07:37 AM

@Milas, Centering an embed is done purely contrlled by the page it is embeded on and as such is not something we can help you with. You need to know how to do those kinds of things I'm afraid. @Jonathan, Unfortunately we don't have music embed options as this time.

'Dim the lights'

Hi, is there any setting in the code I can use to 'dim' the background as the video is playing? This is one of the reasons why I use Exposure Room and it's a nice feature I would like to have on my wordpress website too. Thanks! :) www.ajcarterfilms.com

Shiv Kumar    August 23, 2010 10:07 AM

A.J, Dimming the background is in the realm of the website and not the embed. That is the embed is just a "guest" or small part of the website and as such can't control the website. So I'm afraid there is no code we can provide as part of the embed that can do this for you.

Removing the View on ExposureRoom.com

Is there anyway (using the WP plugin) to remove the "View on ExposureRoom.com" line below the video? This is an unnecessary line on my webpage and runs directly into the description that I put on the page.

Shiv Kumar    February 18, 2011 08:13 AM

Kevin, Have you looked at the video?

mark waters    April 05, 2011 06:34 AM

Can see all the coding??

I have just downloaded this plugin and having problems with it. When It shows up in mu category feed I can see all the coding?? But when I click on the post and view it all the coding disappears. Why am I seeing all the coding and how can this problem be solve? Kind regards Mark

Shiv Kumar    April 05, 2011 10:42 AM

Mark, Please contact support providing screen shots of what you see as well as a url to your post so we can look into this and get back to you. What is an mu category feed?

mark waters    April 05, 2011 11:36 AM

yeah I have done that... I understand all about web stuff and embedding and all the rest... I usually use vimeo to do it but theres a few things i have on my exposurerrom account that I want to use. I embed it, and I can play it on my site etc. The code shows up in my category when I publish the video. I have a bunch of posts, with in one category and each post has a description of what it is and then click on past and takes me to a separated page where I can view the post and video. So with in the mini description of the post I see all the coding and then when I click on post it takes me though to the page where I can view the video perfectly with no weird coding?? Whats up with the coding on my mini description?

Shiv Kumar    April 05, 2011 12:38 PM

Mark, I don't believe we've received any email (to support) where you've provided the info I asked for. Once we have the information we need we'll look into this and get back to you.

I cannot install this plugin

Clearly I'm doing something wrong. For a start, I do not see /wp-content/plugins/ anywhere, even when I type it in as an address. When I try to upload the php file using "add new plugin", it only accepts zip files. Please help!

Shiv Kumar    September 14, 2011 07:55 AM

Excalibur, just ot be sure. That folder will be found on your web server. It is a phyical folder and not a virtual folder. You won't be able to navigate to it using a browser. You'll only get to it if you have physical access to your web server machine and hard drive. If you're using a hosting provider then the best thing is to ask them how to get access to this folder. They'll typically give you access to this and other folders via FTP. As regards zip file. Well, simply zip the file we provide and then use that zip file.
